Introducing WorkWell

WorkWell is here to support people who are recently unemployed due to a health condition or disability or struggling with their job to start and stay in work.

WorkWell is here to support people who are:

  • Unemployed and held back by a health condition: People who are recently unemployed and living within the Preston area.
  • In work but struggling with a health condition or a disability: People who are currently off sick or at risk of dropping out of the workforce.

This support is free and voluntary and will connect you to a Work and Health Coach / Mentor who will develop a tailored support plan for you, including the full range of available local support services and signposting.

Participants can be referred to WorkWell through their employer, local services in their area, primary care providers such as GPs, Jobcentre Plus and through self-referral.

We have a group of partners who are here to support people through WorkWell. This gives specific support to help people with health conditions to start and stay in work. We combine expert advice, local connections and coaching.

Lancashire Community Finance

Lancashire Community Finance is a specialist financial inclusion support organisation. Since 2004, we have supported thousands of Preston residents to overcome challenges and move forward with their lives. The support we provide is personalised, considers the bigger picture, and respects each person’s own journey. We have a dedicated team of experienced and friendly advisors who take the time to understand your concerns and help you plan a path forward.

We can help you to:

    • Deal with debt and money worries
    • Apply for the benefits you are entitled to (including in-work benefits) as well as advocacy and representation at appeal stages
    • Address housing problems
    • Access crisis support including grants, energy vouchers and food parcels
    • Find the right employment and training opportunities for you
    • Make the most of your money

Preston North End Community & Education Trust

Preston North End Community and Education Trust [PNECET] is the official charity of Preston North End Football Club. Utilising the power of Preston North End Football Club, PNECET health and wellbeing team will inspire change, improve health and enhance lives. We deliver programmes that equip people with the skills, confidence and knowledge to achieve their aspirations and tackle the needs of our community.

PNECET is one of the Preston partners delivering WorkWell. This new early-intervention service for work and health, will offer Individuals comprehensive one to one support to address health-related challenges to employment. By developing a deep understanding of the needs and aspirations of people who are at risk of leaving work or have already stopped working due to health conditions, the WorkWell coach will help individuals regain confidence and independence in managing their work and health, and offer practical support and connections into health and wellbeing services in the local community.

About the WorkWell Project

WorkWell is a Lancashire and South Cumbria partnership project, commissioned by the DWP & Department for Health & Social Care. Led by the Integrated Care Board (ICB) for Lancashire and South Cumbria, it aims to support those with health conditions and disabilities get into and stay in work. In Preston, the project is delivered by Active Lancashire on behalf of Preston City Council. Selnet are proud to be a delivery partner of the WorkWell project.
