Start Up Social Enterprise of the Year

Top Class Tuition UK

Top Class Tuition (UK) CIC is a Social Enterprise which offers specialist English Language, Literature and Literacy teaching and interventions for Key Stage Two – Key Stage Five pupils. Our social mission is to raise the attainment and achievement in English and Literacy in Blackpool and the surrounding areas; profits generated through TCT is invested into the young people of Blackpool through projects which further promote English and Literacy skills. We are passionate about improving life chances for young people in the town and aim to replicate our work in other disadvantaged areas.

Small Social Enterprise of the Year

Preston Vocational Centre

PVC is an inclusive learning environment which aims to provide all young people with suitable skills and qualifications so as to allow them to progress in their future adult working lives.


Since their inception PVC has continually expanded its offer which has enabled them to engage with more schools and communities over a wider geographical footprint.

Enabling Ability Award

Artz for All C.I.C

Artz for All C.I.C is a social enterprise based in the heart of Skelmersdale, West Lancashire; that works extensively to provide its local community with fun and innovative opportunities in the wonderful world of the Performing Arts.

Volunteer of the Year

Sarah Harrison Lancashire Women’s Centres

Sarah Harrison is a dedicated volunteer at our Blackpool Centre. She is amazing at using her skills, life experiences and spare time to support others.

After accessing our learning provision, Sarah now volunteers on our MindFit programme – a group therapeutic course, providing support to other learners. She is now a trained mentor supporting women on a 1-1 basis on issues such as housing, domestic abuse, or accessing training.

Our Centre Manager said “She really is the kindest person you could ever wish to meet. She is a very sought after asset in our organisation and the time and enthusiasm she devotes to our organisation is very much appreciated. We really cannot praise her enough”.

The Sewing Rooms

The Sewing Rooms is a business that trades to tackle social problems. We do this through our unique skills training and employability skills in the Sew Fab Academy. Underpinning our social impact work is our manufacturing dept that makes bespoke products and services for corporate and private clients.

Most Effective Collaboration

The Birchwood Centre

The Birchwood Centre is a charitable company providing residential support to vulnerable homeless or at risk of homelessness to young people in the Skelmersdale and wider Lancashire area. Our aim to prevent youth homelessness and social isolation by empowering young people to make positive and informed choices supporting them to take responsibility and to become thriving, self-sufficient citizens. We have worked in the local community for 40 years committed to improving the lives of young people, families and the local community.

Highly commended award won by Bootstrap Enterprises / Community Clothing

Social Enterprise of the Year

Lancashire Women’s Centres

Our women led organisation believes in the effectiveness of a gender specific approach in service delivery as a key route to achieve better outcomes for women, in particular those with experiences of abuse and trauma. Our One Stop Shop model, reflecting a whole systems approach, is able to evidence effectiveness in meeting women’s needs.

Social Enterprise Champion 2018

Diane Price MBE In Di Go

Diane Marie Price is the Founder Director of InDiGo, she has lived experience of her son now 20 years old who has Autism and ADHD.


InDiGo has been founded on real life experiences, commitment and passion. Making a difference to the lives of disabled children/young people families and their siblings.
