RELEASE into Victory (RiV) is a support service for adults over the age of 18 who have experienced or are affected by Childhood Sexual Abuse (CSA). RiV is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company established in 2013; based in Leyland, we operate across Central Lancashire. Fundraising for our services is through the Angel Gifts shop and crafts centre at 98 Hough Lane, and our training, engagement ad counselling support takes place in our dedicated workshop and counselling rooms upstairs.
As a service, Release into Victory have three action points:
- Raising awareness of Childhood Sexual Abuse (CSA): The time has come to stand together and face the fact that CSA is a whole society issue, if we ignore the problem we are simply allowing a veil of secrecy for the abusers to hide behind and therefore giving perpetrators opportunities to continue with this crime against vulnerable children. By raising awareness of CSA we can send a message to perpetrators that as a community we believe that sexual abuse is unacceptable and will no longer be tolerated it in our society.
- Training for support services: Our multi-agency approach is a major component of our service. We work in collaboration with local support services by exchanging & sharing Information, skills and expertise. We are running sample sessions from our training room in Leyland from March 2020 for support agencies to find out more about this service.
- Support for survivors: Survivors deserve to be heard in a way that is best for them as individuals. People who have been abused often need and benefit from opportunities to validate their stories, speaking out about their experiences often leads to a sense of freedom and relief and can be very empowering. Our 1:1 confidential listening service, provides support to individuals to enable them to work out where they are emotionally on their own personal healing journey, and signpost on to professional counselling/therapy if required. We also provide access to our Peer Support Network.
