    About Us

Advocacy means supporting somebody to speak up and be listened to, ensuring their views and wishes are heard and taken seriously. Advocacy can enable people to become more involved in important decisions about their health and social care.

Our Advocates help people in the community who have difficulty with communicating their thoughts, needs and wishes. They may also face difficulties with making decisions about things such as how or where they are cared for.

Advocacy can support people to understand their rights, their options, and enable the person to make an informed decision. We help people to live the lives they want to live.

We provide high quality and totally free advocacy support across the North of England that is completely independent of Health and Social care services.

    About Us

    INSPIRING LIVES AND CHANGING FUTURES

It’s what we’ve been doing since 1886, in one form or another!

We passionately believe that every child and young person has the right to achieve their full potential, whatever their background or circumstances – and, as a result, we work with over 6000 children, young people and families in the North West of England every year.  We work in the heart of communities – often in partnership with other organisations – to end family cycles of deprivation, drug and alcohol abuse, lack of self-esteem, youth crime, teenage pregnancies and broken families.

As a result, we help to strengthen individuals, families and communities so that children and young people can lead healthy and meaningful lives, with the opportunity to succeed in school, to grow up to enjoy healthy relationships, to have access to training and employment opportunities and to be successful in the world of work.

Child Action Northwest won our Social Enterprise of the Year Award in 2019 AND 2021, and Environmental Champion of the Year in 2022 – plus Rachael Gallagher of Child Action North West won our Employee of the Year Award in 2019, Natalie Hall of CANWe Solutions won our Social Enterprise Employee of the Year in 2021, and Dominic Hawke won Social Enterprise Employee of the Year Award in 2022!

    Web: www.dancesyndrome.co.uk

    ABOUT US

DanceSyndrome is an inclusive award-winning North-West dance charity led by dancers with learning disabilities.

DanceSyndrome believes that everybody belongs and that people with learning disabilities have skills and assets which can contribute to and inspire an equitable civil society.

DanceSyndrome was created in response to the determination of Jen Blackwell, a dancer with Down’s Syndrome who wanted to share her passion for dance and get the world dancing.

She wanted to engage with other dancers, to lead workshops, to choreograph and deliver performances and inspire others to believe in themselves. Supported by her parents Jen spent 10 lonely years searching for opportunities to train to become the community dance worker she sought to be.

Established in 2009 as a limited company, DanceSyndrome became a charity in 2013. Under the current Managing Director, the charity has experienced an exponential increase in demand both regionally and nationally. Using dance as a vehicle for positive change, our vision is to empower learning-disabled individuals through inclusive dance.

All activity is led by a Dance Leader with learning disabilities supported by a professionally trained Dance Artist. Using a co-production model, DanceSyndrome delivers weekly community workshops and training for the core company. On demand the dancers regularly engage in performances, training, university seminars, conferences and we are developing and piloting a social replication model.

    About Us

Shine Coaching is a Community Interest Company (CIC) that offers life coaching sessions to men in Lancashire over the age of 18 who experience anger issues.  We offer sessions over the phone to our clients, making it more accessible, whilst also reducing travelling costs for our clients.  As a CIC with limited funds, we can then spend more funding on client contact time, maximizing the resources we can devote to those who need it.  We have built relationships with community agencies who have direct and indirect (through partners, for example) contact with men.  We have received referrals through agencies but also direct referrals from men themselves.  Coaching works with where the person is now and where they would like to be.  We work with men to identify their goals around reducing anger, and often, their other identified goals cascade into reducing their anger too.  As an average, we offer between 6-8 sessions, but more can be negotiated. This flexibility is important to us.  We offer our sessions over the phone for various reasons; we know that men are more likely to access treatment if it’s easier to do so; life coaching as a profession has been the pioneer in over the phone work; to cut down on overheads; accessible and easy to set sessions and means we can reach people we wouldn’t usually be able to, including those who identify as agoraphobic.

    About Us

The 180 Project is a community recovery programme in Lancashire and is one of the first of its kind in the UK. It is unique, effective and unlike anything else for those recovering from addiction problems. We use sport [an adapted CrossFit programme] combined with education, mentoring and peer support to achieve total wellness so participants are physically, emotionally and mentally well and socially connected.

180 gives focus and hope to offenders in the system and those recovering from addiction. It also has the potential to reach those people who are at risk of falling into this cycle as early as possible. Through this we aim to break the cycle of substance abuse, crime and prison to help rebuild lives. The long term goal is to impact positively on criminal re-offense rates, improve local communities and to assist individuals in gaining education, volunteer and employment opportunities.
