About Us

Shape Lancashire Community Interest Company is now in its 4th year of delivering Projects in disadvantaged communities and giving people opportunities to engage, develop and grow. Our Projects are very varied and originally SHAPE was an acronym for Sports, Health & Well Being, Arts, People/Projects, Environmental and Employment – all were projects we had much experience in delivering in previous roles working in the Social Housing sector in the Community Development Team. Mandy worked in Housing for over 30 years and Kate for 10 years.

We have completed all those types of projects, and more, over the past four years working all over Lancashire and parts of Greater Manchester; Preston, South Ribble, Pendle, Colne, Blackburn, Bury, Bolton, Chorley, Lancaster, Morecambe, Blackpool.

We deliver a wide variety of projects to residents of Social Housing Providers (Places for People, Progress Housing Group, Clarion Housing, Community Gateway), as well as obtain funding from BBC Children in Need (Leyland), Lottery – Reaching Communities (Preston, South Ribble), Community Foundation for Lancashire (Preston/ South Ribble), and the East Lancs Clinical Commissioning Group (Burnley Rossendale, Pendle). We have recently received funding from Lancashire Environmental Fund to develop a community garden/astroturf at The Place Community Centre in Leyland.

We deliver an over 55s Health and Well Being Programme for 11 x Places for People sheltered schemes, a National Befriending/Mental Health telephone support service (Shape Linc Line) for any age for P4P tenants. A Youth Club for residents/young people who live in Progress Housing properties in Wade Hall, Leyland, these residents also benefit from CIN funding which delivers activities during all school holidays including those addressing Holiday Hunger, Targeted work with 8-11s and 12 and overs. The lottery funded us to increase our remit to South Ribble and Chorley for the Over 55s Health and Well Being activities and more recently has part funded our Befriending service for our H & WB face to face service users.

We have our own 16 seater Minibus with assisted lift to rear which was funded from the Lottery. This enables us to transport our customers young and old away from their homes to places of interest, trips, health walks, activities across the Lancashire area.

We deliver a 1-1 face to face Digital Project for Clarion Housing in Bolton, and a Mental Health support project for Community Gateway residents.

Our work in East Lancashire is supporting those with Mental Health issues, those in recovery from drug and alcohol misuse to enable them to make the right choices and move forward with their lives; this may be small steps moving on to helping them get work ready, gain employment or setting them up with local Volunteering opportunities. We have also brought in health walks and bike rides in groups to build peoples confidence and improve social skills.

The Community Foundation have funded us for an isolated older womens project which will benefit Carers, those with Dementia and those who like socialising and keeping healthy, exercise, health walks. We have secured This Girl Can Funding have also funded us to deliver a Mental Health and Physical Activity Programme for ladies (single parents, those from abusive relationships, disabled residents) in South Ribble area.

We had to quickly adapt to the Covid Pandemic restraints as all our face to face delivery was put on hold in March 2020; we brought everything on line or via telephone and secured £26k of Emergency Funding over a 6 week period so we could keep our business afloat and still support our customers.

We are qualified Level 4 Advice and Guidance; Institute of Leadership and Management Level 2, and Level 3, Multiskilled Sports Activator, DBS Verification officers,   Level 2 Bike Ride Leaders, Doorstep Coaching Level 2.

We are passionate about our work and possess excellent Community Engagement, Influencing, and Motivating skills; we have a fabulous track record in Partnership working and always hit our outcome targets. We are open, honest, and transparent and get tremendous job satisfaction when we make a difference to people’s lives.
