We are a registered charity, a limited company and a development trust. Founded in 2000 by a group of people concerned about the future of Bacup, and determined to have a say on how SRB money was to be spent, we were homeless until 2007 when we took over Rossendale Council’s Greenhouses site in Stubbylee Park.
From there we have been delivering a PCT funded project “Cultivating Health” through which we have been providing:
- Opportunities for volunteering
- Work experience
- Therapeutic horticultural activities
- Individual care placements (self funded)
- A small retail outlet selling products made/grown on site
PCT funding ended 31 March 2011 but we have just secured a grant from The Big Lottery until 2014. The new project is called “Heads Up Rossendale” and we will be working specifically with people who have low self-esteem, mental or physical health problems and those with learning difficulties, using activities we have developed at Stubbylee.
